Roman Ka¼mierski
Born in Inowroclaw in 1954, he had spent his childhood first in Kruszwica, then in Brodnica on the Pommern-Masurian border. He graduated from the Torun University from the Polish language and Literature faculty in 1977, but he never worked as a Polonist, but after a proper further studying, he began work as a psychiatrist in the former Zielonogorskie province. His poetry debut took place in 1975. Afterwards he rarely pubished in magazines. In December 1981 he was imprisoned for taking part in the social and political movements. Since 1984 he remains in Sweden, where he still works as a psychiatric therapist. Between 1985 and 2000 he had not published any of his poems (in spite of writing continously), later on he has published a little. Since fall 2003 he is active in a literary portal www.nieszuflada.pl . He reads and writes a lot, also translates Swedish poetry to Polish ( T. Tranströmer, Eva Ström, W. Aspenström). In the beginning of 2006 his third potry book is going to be issued by a Warsaw publisher, "adwers". Further poems translated to English will be issued by the "Indiana Review".
